I was commissioned to create artwork for a lovely couples’ nursery, and it’s been quite the journey. Originally planning to create a large linoleum print, I handed these two paintings over just last week. Soothing blues with the occasional pop of bright red seemed appropriate for a child’s room. The paintings are constructed of layers and layers of paint, cut paper, tissue paper, and printed ink. The quickly applied and reapplied layers add a sense of youthfulness and freshness to the piece. Textures and organic mark-making hold your attention throughout the painting. I’m so happy to have had this opportunity!
